Ziggi’s Coffee recently awarded a franchise agreement to army veterans, Melissa and Leslie Malone-Montgomery, of Chula Vista, California. The couple signed on to open three units, starting with one in the San Diego area.
Melissa and Leslie combined their dreams of financial independence and entrepreneurship and set out to find a business that could meet their needs. As military veterans, it was important for them to find a company that also shared their values.
“It was extremely important to me for the business we invest in to be military-friendly,” said Melissa. “We took into consideration the discounted fee and for some, it was a couple of hundred bucks or 10 per cent off but Ziggi’s just blew everyone else out of the water.”
Beyond the discount, Melissa and Leslie were drawn to the genuine support and authenticity of everyone they met throughout the process.
“We took our time researching and getting a feel for different companies and seeing how they treated us,” said Melissa. “Something kept pulling us back to Ziggi’s and I can definitely say it was the family feel and the sincerity. The other companies we were considering treated us like just another number.”
After meeting Ziggi’s founders, Brandon and Camrin Knudsen, Melissa says she and Leslie could definitely see what separated Ziggi’s Coffee from the rest.
“Ziggi’s is clearly thriving and doing well,” said Melissa. “Hearing Brandon and Camrin’s 15-year success story gave me a sense of security and to see that they have not only created a successful business, but they’ve demonstrated it and now other franchises are also blossoming; that was a major factor in our decision.”
With the agreement signed, Melissa and Leslie are now working with the Ziggi’s team to secure the ideal site for the first location. As they enter this journey, Melissa says they’re excited to experience the entire process.
“Of course we want to succeed, of course, we want to make a profit, but the process itself and knowing that this business is ours, that is extremely exciting and important to us,” she said.
