The Global Franchise Awards recognize a job well done and inspire and educate others, says Kay Ainsley and Michael Seid, managing directors of MSA Worldwide
Successful franchise expansion into international markets can add prestige to a brand and have a positive impact on a company’s bottom line. However, achieving successful expansion requires proper planning, sufficient allocation of both financial and people resources, and a longterm commitment to building and supporting markets with different business and cultural requirements. Not all franchisors are able to achieve a high level of success. Those that do, contribute to the continued acceptance and effectiveness of franchising around the world.
MSA Worldwide is proud to have been invited to sponsor the Global Franchise Awards 2020 which recognizes those franchisors who have achieved success by developing and implementing strong franchise programs for international markets. We firmly believe in franchising as a business model and the value that it provides for the franchisor, the franchisee and the market as a whole.
We also believe that these awards are important, because by recognizing and rewarding those who make the investment to expand smartly and correctly we can raise the bar for international franchising. These awards will encourage others to follow the leaders and build or strengthen their own franchise programs, thus helping to protect the franchise model for all.
We have assisted our clients, both those who franchise in their domestic market and those who only wish to franchise outside their home market, to review their readiness to expand into new global markets and to develop a pro-active international expansion strategy.
Our experience as consultants has demonstrated time and again that the most critical decision a franchisor makes is who they select as their franchisee. We work with our clients to create a profile of their ideal franchisee for each market and then structure a win-win arrangement for moving forward.
Often, the support programs that have propelled a franchisor to success in their home market will not be adequate in a new market. We help them to tailor the changes in their product or service, supply chain requirements, marketing, promotion, public relations and social media programs, and to adapt to cultural and business norms.
As a Global Franchise Awards judge in 2019 we appreciate all the work Global Franchise magazine does to promote the contest and solicit and organize the entries and would like to say thank you to the magazine’s staff for all your efforts.
We would also like to say thank you to this year’s judges for generously donating their time and also the companies who took the time and effort to put together their entry.
We hope that you found the exercise in reviewing your international program worthwhile and we wish you the best of luck.
