Marriott International plans to open 10 new locations by the end of 2022 in Turkey.

The hotel brand’s footprint in Turkey region will grow to 43 properties with a cumulative 7,000 rooms. The brand is committed to Turkey and only recently announced two deals under the Four Points by Sheraton brand.

Selected brands in the Marriott portfolio have performed well, with the Four Points by Sheraton and Residence Inn performing particularly well and being chosen to spearhead the expansion. Four Points by Sheraton is slated to open a location in Kagithane, Istanbul and in the Anatolian city of Elazig.
Premium accommodation remains popular and a significant driver of growth in Turkey. Marriott International plans to open more locations under the Autograph Collection in 2022. The Autograph Collection are a series of hotels managed by independent hoteliers who make use of Marriott’s all-encompassing sales, distribution and loyalty platforms.
The Burdock will open in 2021 while the Orient Occident Hotel will open in 2022, with both locations in Istanbul.
Delta Hotels, another brand under the Marriott International umbrella first opened in 2019 in Turkey. The no-frills hotel plans to open its next location in Istanbul by 2022.
To meet demand for long-term accommodation, Marriott International plans to debut its Residence Inn brand, which provides guests a mix of the hotel and home-life experience for extended stays. The brand will debut in Atasehir, Istanbul later this year. There are currently three residential properties in the Marriott portfolio, with plans to grow that to five with two new locations slated to open in 2022.
Sheraton Hotels and Resorts is currently in the middle of a design transformation but remains popular in Turkey. With two locations under its belt in Istanbul, the brand has plans for a third in the city.
While growth in the past may have been propelled by new-build properties, conversion opportunities are now becoming more commonplace. In the last two years, Marriott International has opened six converted locations and opened five of them under Marriott brands.
Converting existing structures into hotels has also been a popular option, with the JW Marriott Bosphorus and The Burdock, Collection created out of the shell of an older building.
