Dickey’s Barbeque Pit will be coming to Africa, as part of a new franchise agreement with the Swinder Group and the Toama family, that will see a Cairo location open in summer 2020.
Dickey’s is inarguably a brand entrenched in family values and traditions, having been started by Travis Dickey and Miss Ollie Dickey in 1941. Back then, the menu was limited to beef brisket, pit hams, barbeque beans, and potato chips. Over seven decades later, and the menu may have updated, but a family focus is still the backbone of this unbeatable barbeque franchise.
“We are excited to bring a little bit of Texas to Egypt,” says Abdelrahman Taoma, newly-appointed Dickey’s franchisee. “We love Dickey’s food and atmosphere, and know others here will, too.”
Texas barbeque is also headed to South America, with a Dickey’s in Brazil scheduled for June 2020. These new units will add to the 500 locations that already operate in the U.S., across 44 states.
“Since my family opened the first Dickey’s in 1941, we’ve made it our mission to serve as many guests as possible the very best barbeque out there,” says Roland Dickey Jr. “With this new partnership, Dickey’s Legit. Texas. Barbeque. will soon be available on four continents.”
Dickey’s international growth ramped up in 2017, when the brand announced a franchising deal with Serenity Hospitality, LLC., that would see 45 locations develop in seven Middle Eastern countries; the first of which opened in 2018.
It’s been a big year for Dickey’s Barbeque Pit, as the brand also won a Global Franchise Award 2019 for the Best Food & Drink Franchise. At the time of winning the award, Roland Dickey Jr. said: “As a family-owned brand, we are proud to have been honored with a Global Franchise Award. Our team works hard to create relationships with partners that will exemplify the Dickey’s Barbeque Pit brand, and bring authentic, Texas-style barbeque to folks across the world.”
At this rate, it won’t be long before you’ll always be able to get an authentic taste of the south – no matter where in the world you are.
