Across the world, and in a city not too far from you, you’ll find a franchise exposition that will offer you the opportunity to meet franchise companies, speak with franchise experts, participate in franchise seminars, and take you one or more steps closer to becoming a franchisee, a master franchisee, or possibly even a franchisor.
With dozens of expositions occurring worldwide every year, we can’t list them all in one article, so we’ve highlighted several expos that provide extensive benefits to exhibitors and attendees. In many cases, you’ll discover that the expos offer free admission to you and your colleagues if you register in advance, so take advantage of that opportunity.
Major U.S. Franchise Expos
With more than 400 international exhibitors and attendees from 120 countries and all 50 states of the USA, the International Franchise Expo (IFE) in New York is unique. It’s a three-day event sponsored by the world premier International Franchise Association (IFA), and one of the few expos supported by the U. S. Department of Commerce’s International Buyer Program, which cultivates partnerships between international visitors and U.S. companies.
The 2018 International Franchise Expo occurs May 31-June 2 at The Javits Center in New York City. You can register free at www.ifeinfo.com.
Why Go to IFE 2018?
“If you live outside the USA and you plan to attend the IFE,” explains Tom Portesy, president of MFV Expositions, producer of the IFE, “you could attend the expo as a member of an official delegation organized by the U.S. embassy or consulate in your country. Even if you prefer to travel alone, you can take advantage of many benefits not offered to foreign visitors at other expos.” Want to join a delegation? Contact Corali Romero at email@example.com or call +1 201 881 1662.
Another benefit of the IFE: conferences! The IFE offers a huge menu of educational programs, most of them free. You’ll find all the details at www.ifeinfo.com under the Educational Programs link. Paid conferences usually sell out early so it’s best to pre-register online. MFV Expositions is the world’s largest producer of franchise expos. In addition to the New York City show, MFV produces international franchise trade shows in eight other world markets. You can learn about these expos at www.mfvexpo.com/international-expos.
While the IFE is reason enough to visit the USA, if you’re traveling in the U.S. at other times during the year you may want to attend Franchise Expo Midwest in Chicago, Sept. 14-15; or Franchise Expo West in Los Angeles, Nov. 1-3. It’s too late now for Franchise Expo South but watch out for the next Southern show in early 2019.
Franchise Expo Paris at Porte de Versailles
What may be the oldest franchise exposition, Franchise Expo Paris will occur for the 36th year March 25-28, 2018, at Porte de Versailles. This four-day event includes more than 500 international exhibitors and attracts more than 35,000 visitors!
The expo offers 125 conferences and workshops for prospective franchisees and franchisors all taught in French. The French Franchise Federation sponsors the expo and it’s produced by Reed Expositions. Details about admission fees, expo hours, exhibitor list, delegation information and much more, i.e. where to park!, can be found at www.franchiseparis.com.
International Franchise Expo in Mexico City
More than 25 years ago, U.S. franchise companies organized by what is today MFV Expositions traveled every year to Mexico City to set up a franchise expo primarily to sell American franchise brands into Mexico. American franchisors viewed Mexico as a neighboring port for master license development and hundreds of master licensees were sold for Mexico and countries in South America.
Today, however, Franquicias Feria Internactional still includes many American brands, but most of the exhibitors are indigenous to Mexico. “We built the show in Mexico,” says Portesy, but in doing so we created a dynamic market for franchising.” In fact, they created one of the world’s best-attended franchise expos, with more than 40,000 visitors!
Sponsored by the Mexican Franchise Association and produced by MFV Expositions, the International Franchise Expo in Mexico City will occur March 1-3 at the World Trade Center. You’ll find expo details at www.fif.com.mx.
ABF Franchising Expo in Sao Paulo
Every year the Brazilian Franchising Association (ABF) plans an entire week devoted to franchising and the highlight is the country’s largest franchise expo set for June 27-30 at Expo Center Norte in Sao Paulo. This expo, with more than 400 exhibitors and 65,000 visitors, is produced by Informa Exhibitions.
The ABF promotes the show as a “complete event for those who wish to invest safely.” The four-day expo includes a variety of conferences. Details about the expo can be found at www.abfexpo.com.br.
